道貌岸然 笑裡藏刀

From time to time we get to know people who on one hand pretends to be sympathetic, supportive, understanding and all that, on the other they determine to make things work just the other way around, making sure you're damned and doomed, all at your back.

How to deal with this kind of people? I've got a lot to learn. And better not ask me who am I talking about, it's just philosophy, isn't it?!

It disgusts me just to think about it.

早兩天收到粉皮的喜訊很是高興，希望在這裡和大家分享我的喜悅，也請當事人別介意。

認識這傢伙是 year 1 開課沒多久的事，兩個無乜心機但又各有一點小聰明的懶學生很自然的便走在一塊。Skip 堂、金花雞脾、炸醬撈麵、「小小心意租書店 」、砌完拆拆完又砌的電腦、UTSC、華基團契以及回來後的高登黃金等等，見證了兩個大男孩之間的友情。友情這東西很奇妙，我和他除了喜歡電腦以外，基本上是每方面都大相逕庭的兩個人。

我脾氣火爆，死剩把口，卻從沒見過他罵人; 我在很多事情上挑剔執著，他卻是永遠模稜兩可，唔嗲唔吊! 我喜歡的衣服、車子他沒興趣，他的時間都花了在關心身邊的朋友、家人，Sherry 和熙哥、阿奶等想必也舉腳贊同。

從他數年前輕描淡寫的一句: 「喂，我稔住追 M ... 」 (o下? 追佢做咩呀...) 到今天依然輕描淡寫的另一句: 「喂，講聲你聽我 plan 左幾時幾時... 」(o下? plan 咩呀..) 每一次都非嚇你一跳不可! 原小姐若看到以上的話，這傢伙就拜託你了...

聽男子組呢首歌除左因為係 brother's drink 眾人的飲歌之外，另一個原因是歌詞聽起來心態上有點共鳴。雖然還差一點點才到三張幾，但可能我個「三張 crisis 」早黎左少少，「廿到 mun」 已經開始多左野諗，零舍多顧忌...

People often debate how is the Mac OS superior to Microsoft Windows, I tend not to answer these questions, there are two ways to prove it:

1. Go pick up a vintage PowerMac G3 like I did, install Tiger. Also pick up a set of Penium III ~500MHz with the same specs, install XP. Fire up both, you'll immediately notice the difference, the PIII simply is not usable in today's standard. In other words, Macs are not insanely faster, they just last longer!

2. Some of you may have the kind of $$ to play with dual core Pentiums and/or G5s, with these kinds of beasts on hand, you would still immediately notice the difference between the two OSs simply by opening up the same webpage. I'm sorry, everything just look better on a Mac, no matter how much $$ you've spent on the PC.

Oh yeh... I use Microsoft Windows everyday, the more I use it, the more of a Mac geek I become.

幾日前約左人又未夠鐘，心血來潮走入深水步元洲街一間 CD 舖搵二手碟。搵咩? 搵蘇慧倫囉... 早在月前去台灣既時候已經想搵架啦，結果無去到，係因為我都想聽番佢 D 廣東歌，睇個款台灣都未必搵到，算數! 皇天不負有心人，果日比我買到兩隻: 1. 失戀萬歲 (國語新曲+精選) 2. 我有時會想 (廣東)。其實隻廣東碟我十年前都買左，而家如無意外應該仲係多倫多家中一角，或者甚至已經淪落多市某個廢物堆填區之中。點解我要買番? 嘩.. 淨係首「少女問」已經值回 $28 二手價啦!

話時話，當年我實在係清湯掛麵型玉女既超級 fans，周慧敏唔駛講啦，我喜歡聽蘇慧倫既時期佢都係咁上下款。不過果時 D 男仔個個都係鐘意呢款架啦，好奇咩? 一直到而家都係，呢 D 叫情意結。

VW's budget hatchback tuned by Caractere, meaner than ever.

Had a little leisure time at work yesterday, with the help of a colleague with printing and LCD display expertise, I paired up my iBook with a Swiss-made GretagMacbeth Eye-One professional LCD calibrator. The reason doing so was that LCD displays tend to dim as time pasts, doing a hardware calibration basically reeducates your monitor what is WHITE, what is BLACK, ie. the precise values of colours. The theory of colour management is actually a lot more complicated than this but my intention was simply to have some fun, if you would like to get more into the details, check this out.

And here are the results, the iBook LCD appeared to be brighter and colours are now more distinct after calibration. From the chart you can tell that the 4-yr old LCD panel is getting aged, colour space is nowhere close to modern LCDs like Apple Cinema Displays, LaCie and Eizo, etc.
